Everest Base Camp Cycling Tour

Strenuous Trip

August and September is High Season in Tibet and services are highly expensive, no doubt the weather at higher altitude remain excellent but it is the weather in Nepal that can turn dream holidays to disastrous experience. So, we avoid the risk of Nepalese monsoon and operate the ride only on possible dates then dismal and regrets.

Everest base camp cycling tour departs from Nepal and is shorter than regular mountain bike tours from Lhasa in Tibet. The trip offers opportunities for budget crunched cycling enthusiast to fulfill their dream of riding to base camp of Mt. Everest in less expensive ways.
The ride starts from Kathmandu avoiding expensive flight to Lhasa, extra luggage charges and few days compulsion acclimatization routine. Almost similarly with any cycling tour from Lhasa, the trip includes riding under the rain shadow of mighty Himalayas and diversity while cycling is immense. The ride traverses off roads trails in Nepal but is almost blacked topped in Tibet section and it includes the diversion into Mt. Everest base Camp.
However, the road trip gains altitude rapidly unlike cycling tour from Lhasa to Kathmandu which is fairly gradual. Hence, interested participants should be in sound physical condition and importantly aware on AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). Therefore, any medical weakness especially respiratory illness can often spell the end of much desired dream between the rides!
The ride on day five which is part of the highest road ascent reaches an altitude of 3500+ meters at Nyalam in Tibet and we spend an extra day here to acclimatize. Over the next two days, we bicycle over 5150 meters across the La Lungla Pass to reach Tingri at approx 4300 meter and further reach the ultimate point of the tour and capture stunning selfies on Mt. Everest base camp.

It is extremely important to understand the idea of this cycling tour is to reach Mt. Everest base camp in Tibet and return back to Nepal and reaching Lhasa is not a part of this bicycle tour. Although riding uphill are challenging but in this case the ride will favor the riders somewhat, there are no anti-wind but it is the other way on return journey.
